3.0 out of 5 stars It's ok, but there are better options!, July 9, 2010

I picked these up as a replacement for the factory stakes included with my Kelty Gunnison 4.1 tent. They are miles ahead of the stock stakes.

However, they CAN bend if you hit a rock or are careless.

The better options are from Sierra Designs Hex Peg Stakes. They aren't as easy to bend as this Kelty model. Even better yet are stakes that are y-shaped such as the MSR Groundhogs, Coghlan's Ultra Light, or Sierra Designs Y-Stake.

In short, they are way better than the stock stakes but there are still better options out there at comparable prices.

4.0 out of 5 stars Medium duty tent stakes, October 13, 2009

I bought these Kelty Nobendium II Tent Stakes as an extra set of stakes for my Kelty tent. However, tent stakes are tent stakes and these can be used with any tent. They are sturdier than the stakes which came with the tent. They can take a little banging with your hammer as long as you use reasonable care. I have been tent camping for many years and generally prefer more rustic terrain. I always carry a variety of tent stakes so that I'm not caught short. The stakes that come with most tents are sufficient when you need light holding power. I like to carry a longer and sturdier stake that can take a lot of pounding for rougher ground. These Kelty stake are a great in-the-middle medium duty tent stake.

1.0 out of 5 stars AWFUL! Save your money!, August 19, 2011

The Kelty Nobendium II stakes are legitimately awful and a complete waste of money. I tried using two of them on dirt ground and succeeded in bending both of them before either was more than 2" into the ground. (not a slight bend, a full 90 degree fold over) I've hammered the stakes included in my Eureka tent into the same dirt and way harder packed cinders without anywhere near the issues the Kelty stakes gave me. They are extremely lightweight aluminum and just fold right over unless the ground is extremely soft. Look elsewhere for replacement stakes!
